Prime Minister of Kazakhstan reviews progress of demonopolization of national economy

On July 1, Chairman of the Government of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov took part in a meeting of the Group on demonopolization of the national economy. The proposals of the Agency for the Protection and Development of Competition for strategic market reforms were considered, the press office of the Prime Minister reported to CentralAsia.news.

The participants agreed to ensure flexibility and variability in purchasing oil and oil products by processing enterprises directly from subsoil users. It was also proposed to include oil exchange trading in the economic conjuncture and increase oil products trading. These measures are regarded as expedient as they increase the number of participants and turn the overall situation on the energy market for the better.

The participants discussed the commercial gas market reforms focusing on introducing exchange trading and coordinating the regulations on access of subsoil users to commercial gas.  This is necessary to provide unhindered and competitive access to the strategic product for suppliers.

The Prime Minister instructed the Ministry of Energy and other organisations to conduct further analysis of the proposed methods, taking into account their impact on economic growth.
