Berdimuhamedov puts forward several proposals at 6th Caspian Summit

On June 29, at the sixth Caspian summit in Ashgabat, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov put forward several initiatives regarding the further development of cooperation in the region. He emphasized the importance of expanding the potential of entrepreneurship and tourism, and protecting nature. It was reported by the news agency «Turkmenistan today».

Berdimuhamedov stressed that one of the main tasks of interaction between Turkmenistan, Russia, Azerbaijan, Iran, and Kazakhstan is to maintain stability in the Caspian region, which is realized through the fight against terrorism and illegal drug trafficking.

The Turkmen leader proposed to expand the powers of cooperation between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, rid entrepreneurship of unnecessary and obsolete barriers, launch targeted business forums of the Caspian countries, create a Business Cooperation Council of the relevant states, develop partnership agreements in the field of culture and the tourism industry in the region, including cruise shipping.

The head of Turkmenistan also pointed out the importance of protecting the environment of the Caspian Sea within the framework of Ashgabat’s initiative to develop an agreement on conducting scientific research in the relevant territory and creating a new environmental program.
