Kyrgyzstan and Iran keep paving ways for normalization of situation in Afghanistan

On June 27, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Jeenbek Kulubaev met with Special Envoy of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran for Afghanistan Hassan Kazemi Ghomi. The interlocutors exchanged views on the latest developments in Afghanistan and the ways to address the Afghan problem, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan reported.

Jeenbek Kulubayev highlighted the importance of interacting with the Afghan Government to prevent the escalation of tension in the country, which could adversely affect regional security.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs said the Kyrgyz authorities are putting forward the initiative to use the capacities of the regional organisations, as well as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), to stabilize the situation in Afghanistan.

Following the meeting, the officials agreed to foster the political dialogue on these issues to provide maximum support to the Afghan people in advancing peace and stability in Afghanistan.

The Special Envoy of the IRI President for Afghanistan is on a working visit to Bishkek. Earlier, he visited Tajikistan.
