Tokayev and Putin confirm commitment to strategic partnership

On June 17, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev met with RF President Vladimir Putin at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF). The leaders of the two countries discussed the current state and prospects of Kazakhstan-Russia economic cooperation, the press office of Akorda reported.

Talking to his Russian counterpart, the Kazakh leader emphasised that Russia remains the main strategic partner of Kazakhstan, and fruitful interaction is developing in increasing progression despite geopolitical instability in modern realities.

Dwelling on bilateral relations, the President of Kazakhstan emphasised that there are no grounds and prerequisites for the manifestation of concern, and everything is going well at all the stages.

The countries are implementing the projects in the industrial and agricultural sectors and within investment geography. The current year marks the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations, which vividly testifies to the existing tremendous potential in a comprehensive exchange, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan emphasised.

The RF President expressed gratitude to his interlocutor for participating in the SPIEF and meeting to discuss joint economic issues. Vladimir Putin said Russia’s investment in Kazakh economy amounted to $17 billion, and last year’s trade turnover reached $25 billion. Much work is to be done in the future; the Cabinets of Ministers are cooperating very closely and actively, the President of Russia noted.
