Kyrgyzstan advocates for gender equality at Summit in Almaty

On June 17, Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of the Kyrgyz Republic Jamilya Isayeva participated in the Second Regional Summit on the Sustainable Development Goals “Beyond Covid-19 – Towards Just Recovery in Central Asia”. The event took place in Kazakhstan, the press office of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan reports. 

Speaking at the summit, Jamilya Isayeva emphasised the relevance of the theme under discussion, noting that the world is trying to mitigate the impacts of the pandemic.

“Measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19 have adverse impacts on livelihoods, employment, agriculture, trade and many other areas,” she emphasised.

Isayeva also noted that women’s equal participation in political, civil, economic, social and cultural life is essential to the realization of human rights.

She said equal access to all spheres of life and participation in management and decision-making processes will enable women make great contributions to the development of their countries.

In conclusion, she expressed belief that all problems could be resolved only through joint efforts.
