Universities in Kuwait and Istanbul to increase scholarships for Tajik students

The diplomats of the Republic of Tajikistan held talks with the heads of higher educational institutions in Kuwait and Istanbul. The interlocutors highlighted the importance of expanding contacts in science and education, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan reported.

Ambassador of Tajikistan in Kuwait Zubaidullo Zubaidzoda met with Director of Kuwait University Dr. Yousef Al-Roumi. They emphasised the expediency of building up relations among educational institutions of the two countries. Particular attention was paid to increasing scholarships for Tajik students in a number of areas of specialisation.

General Consul of Tajikistan in Istanbul Murod Saidzoda held talks with Rector of Istanbul University, Professor, Dr. Mahmut Ak. They focused on promoting scientific and humanitarian relations between higher educational institutions of the two states. They highlighted the importance of expanding fellowship programmes for citizens of Tajikistan.

A large number of Tajik students are currently studying at the universities in Russia. A number of Tajik students exceeds 30,000.
