Kazakhstan has launched constitutional reform

On June 10, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev received Speaker of the lower house of the Parliament Yerlan Koshanov, who reported that the practical stage of the constitutional reform in the orbit of legislative activity had been launched, the press office of Akorda reported.

Yerlan Koshanov reported that the parliamentarians and the Amanat party members had collected over 20,000 letters from civil society members as part of the work to raise awareness of the referendum. The Speaker noted that citizens’ suggestions and proposals would be considered together with the Cabinet of Ministers and incorporated into legislation.

The President was informed about the results of the business trip of the Kazakh delegation to Yerevan to attend the meeting of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly Council. The results of the CSTO PA observer mission to the referendum in Kazakhstan were presented at the meeting. The experts concluded that the All-Republic socio-political marathon was held in strict compliance with national laws.

The Speaker reported that the aspects of the CSTO peacekeeping functionality under the auspices of the UN aimed at ensuring global and regional security were discussed at the forum in Yerevan.
