President of Uzbekistan and Prime Minister of Japan have telephone conversation

On June 9, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a telephone conversation with Prime Minister of Japan Fumio Kishida, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reports.

The interlocutors discussed the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation in key areas in a warm, friendly atmosphere.

The President of Uzbekistan and the Prime Minister of Japan exchanged congratulations on the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the 20th anniversary of the strategic partnerships between the two states.

They noted positive dynamics of trade and economic cooperation. Since the beginning of 2022, trade turnover has doubled on average, investments and the number of joint ventures is on the rise and cooperation in energy, industry and tourism is developing. Japan opened its first Digital University in Uzbekistan.

The promising areas for building partnerships include green energy, science and education, information technology, culture, as well as inter-parliamentary relations.

The interlocutors expressed mutual interest in intensifying cooperation within the Central Asia plus Japan Dialogue.

The Uzbek leader invited the Prime Minister of Japan to pay an official visit to Uzbekistan at any convenient time.
