Tajikistan and China to expand trade and energy partnership

On June 8, Minister of Transport of Tajikistan Azim Ibrokhim and Minister of Foreign Affairs of China Wang Yi agreed to increase bilateral trade and expand cooperation on energy and eco-friendly technologies on the sidelines of the third “China+Central Asia” Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, the press office of the PRC Embassy reports.  

This year marks the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Tajikistan. Wang Yi said the countries have always trusted and supported each other in international and regional affairs, and Beijing is ready to combine efforts with Dushanbe to bring bilateral cooperation in various fields to a new level for the benefit of the two peoples.

He noted that bilateral trade increased by more than 100 percent year on year in the first quarter of 2022, demonstrating high stability. He said China is ready to support Tajikistan in achieving the strategic development goals in energy, transport and industry.

The Minister emphasised that the PRC authorities urged Chinese companies to invest and do business in Tajikistan. He called on the Republic of Tajikistan to improve the business environment.
