The top managers of the Turkish construction holding TAV Airports Holding and the Almaty International Airport informed the distinguished guest about the infrastructural innovations of the investment project that has entered the practical phase.

The President threw a symbolic capsule into the foundation of the future facility and specified the starting date of construction. Addressing those present at the ceremony, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev emphasised that the air harbour of Almaty is an important transport regulator, serving as the “visit card” of the country.

The Kazakh leader stressed that after the new facility is put into operation, it will increase the airport’s capacity to 14 million passengers a year. In this context, the President set the task of using the latest technologies, ensuring the compliance of the facility with international standards and putting the terminal into operation according to schedule.

The investment in this transport hub totalled $200 million. This facility will serve international flights only. Construction work is to be completed in 2024.
