Tashkent hosts esports tournaments

The playoffs and the finals of the CO STUDENTS CUP Esports Championships, involving the participants from the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Member States, have started at Inha University in the capital of Uzbekistan, the press office of the Ministry for Development of Information Technologies and Communications of Uzbekistan reports.

The IT Park under the Ministry for Development of Information Technologies and Communications is the organizer of the tournaments with the support of the Esports Association and Inha University. The tournaments are taking place in the framework of the SCO Summit in Tashkent.

Minister for Development of Information Technologies and Communications Sherzod Shermatov attended the opening ceremony.

50 teams consisting of over 1,000 e-sportsmen from Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia are competing in the CS:GO and DOTA 2 tournaments.

The prize fund is 200 million soums. The first place winners will receive 50 million, and the second place winners – 30 million soums. The prize for the 3rd and 4th places will be 10 million soums.

The tournament will last till June 2, then the award ceremony will take place.
