Independent children’s rights officers to work in regions of Kazakhstan

On June 1, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov instructed that all responsible officials organise the optimally fulfilling summer season of recreation and health improvement for young citizens of Kazakhstan during the government meeting, the press office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan reported to CentralAsia.news.

In Kazakhstan, Children’s Day traditionally gives start to health improvement activities and events for young citizens. The Prime Minister instructed to make the most of this time of year. In particular, Smailov emphasised that all events and activities must be held in strict compliance with the child safe standards. The relevant departments were tasked to ensure the efficient operation of the child protection systems during the summer holidays.

The Prime Minister urged to invite children living in low income families to the places of recreation and useful leisure activities. He instructed to build sports grounds, open children’s development and training centres and launch cultural and training programmes in rural settlements.

The Chairman of the Government highlighted the need to create a legal environment for children, instructing to urgently hire independent children’s rights officers at the regional akimats.
