Tajikistan-Uzbekistan Commission on trade relations meets in Dushanbe

On May 30, the Tajikistan-Uzbekistan Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation held the 9th meeting in Dushanbe. The meeting was chaired by the Prime Ministers of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan Kokhir Rasulzoda and Abdulla Aripov, the press office of the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan reported.

The parties discussed the progress of the implementation of the decisions of the 8th meeting and specified the vectors of cooperation in the trade, transport, energy, cultural, agricultural and water sectors.

The heads of government emphasised that the volume of bilateral trade amounted to $447.8 million in 2021. Bilateral trade has increased by 2.5 times over the past 5 years. The parties agreed to increase it to $1 billion by using huge untapped resources.

Following the meeting, the final document was signed. Aripov visited the Siyoma enterprise that produces soft and alcoholic drinks, the Tennis Palace and the Aquatic Sports Complex in the capital of Tajikistan.
