Tajikistan and Iran sign 16 new documents on cooperation

On May 30, 16 new documents on cooperation were signed in the presence of the leaders of Tajikistan and Iran Emomali Rahmon and Sayyid Ebrahim Raisi in Tehran. Rahmon stressed that the agreements would expand relations between the Republics in various sectors, the press office of the President of Tajikistan reported.

The documents cover such areas of cooperation as industry, advanced technologies, museum activity, investments, sports, social protection, international trucking, environmental protection, tourism, science and geodesy.

The government officials of the two countries signed a long-term programme of trade and economic cooperation for 2022-2030, an agreement on the establishment of the Tajikistan-Iran Business Council and a memorandum on the establishment of the Tajikistan-Iran Investment Committee and the Tajikistan-Iran Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The above documents envisage improving the structure of bilateral trade. The Tajik side highlighted the importance of holding more commodity exhibitions and business forums and expressed interest in using Chabahar Port and Bandar Abbas to transport Tajik goods to foreign markets.
