Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan discuss upgrade of checkpoints

On May 26, representatives of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan held a virtual meeting with the customs officers of Kazakhstan. The parties discussed modernization of checkpoints. Attention was paid to the experience of Kazakhstani specialists in this area. It was reported by the press office of the Turkmen department.

The online meeting was organized as part of an agreement signed between the cabinets of the two countries back in 2001. The document implies the development of interstate partnership and the provision of mutual assistance on customs issues.

The Kazakh side shared its experience in upgrading checkpoints on the state border. Thus, similar customs posts are already functioning on the border between Kazakhstan and China, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. The specialists spoke about the concept and principles of the project.

The officials of the two countries also exchanged information regarding goods and vehicles that cross checkpoints. The discussion took place within the framework of the agreement signed in October last year.

As a result of the event, the customs officers of Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan expressed their readiness to do everything necessary to strengthen the relevant cooperation.
