Uzbek leader holds meeting on industrial zone development

On May 26, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting via videoconference on the creation of special economic and small industrial zones, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reports.

The President noted the undoubted achievements in this sphere – in recent years, 19 free economic zones and over 400 small industrial zones have been created in Uzbekistan, which allowed creating 100,000 new jobs and launching 250 new enterprises.

The President ordered to take specific measures to create new industrial zones, which will untap the potential of the industry.

1.5 trillion soums will be allocated to create industrial zones on more than 6,500 hectares and provide them with electricity and water and build access roads and supply networks on their territory.

170 billion soums will be allocated to implement the construction projects of treatment facilities at leather enterprises and produce high-value goods in Bukhara, Jizzakh, Samarkand, Surkhandarya, Fergana and Tashkent Regions.

Measures will be taken to significantly simplify bureaucratic procedures for the preparation of documentation related to the activities in industrial zones. It is planned to transfer a number of industrial zones to foreign companies.
