On May 20, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev received Minister of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources Serrikali Brekeshev. The agenda of the meeting focused on the work done by the Ministry for the first quarter of the year and the future plans, the press office of Akorda reported to CentralAsia.news.
Reporting on the approaches to achieving a “clean” environment in the country, the Minister noted that in accordance with the new Environmental Code, an audit of 83 large companies was conducted to assess their readiness for transition to modern technologies within a three-year period.
The Minister informed the President about the progress of the implementation of the Zhasyl Kazakhstan concept and the roadmaps for addressing the environmental issues, the current state of the geology industry and the establishment of the National Geology Service.
Brekeshev also reported on the functionality of the water management system, the vegetation season, the development of the new Water Code and the state of forest flora and fauna diversity. Commenting on the report, the Kazakh leader gave a number of constructive instructions in all the areas concerned.
