On May 17, Speaker of the upper house of the Parliament of Tajikistan Rustam Emomali held talks via videoconference with Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China Li Zhanshu. They discussed the current state and prospects of bilateral interaction, the press office of the Parliament of Tajikistan reported.
Li said that China and Tajikistan under the strategic leadership and supervision of the leaders of the two countries have witnessed the continued strengthening of mutual political trust, intensification of cooperation in various fields and fruitful achievements under the Belt and Road Initiative.
Li called on Tajikistan to strengthen cooperation in industry, agriculture, energy, infrastructure, digital economy, combat the coronavirus pandemic and work towards enhancing security cooperation.
The Chinese official noted that the NPC is ready to continue sharing experience with the Parliament of Tajikistan in poverty reduction, rural revitalization and agricultural development.
Rustam Emomali stressed that Tajikistan is seeking to expand contacts with China in such areas as economy, trade and security. He invited his interlocutor to pay an official visit to Dushanbe.
