Uzbekistan and India to boost trade and economic cooperation

On May 11, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Furkat Sidikov met with First Vice-Minister of Commerce and Industry of India B. Subramanian, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan reported.

The talks focused on promoting Uzbekistan-India cooperation in the trade, economic and investment sectors.

The interlocutors emphasised the need for the mutual study the trade structures of Uzbekistan and India to boost the supplies of consumer goods between the two states.

The promising areas of bilateral partnerships include the textile industry, in particular cotton processing and cotton manufacturing, silk processing and silk fabric manufacturing, leather manufacturing, health care and medical industry. The agricultural sector opens up opportunities for joint activities on fruit and vegetable processing and storage.

The interlocutors highlighted the importance of concerting efforts to remove barriers to trade and facilitate commercial activities of the two countries.
