Shavkat Mirziyoyev goes on working trip to Fergana Region

On May 12, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev went on a working trip to Fergana Region, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reports.

The Uzbek leader headed to Altyaryk distict, where he visited the fruit and vegetable garden that occupies an area of 1,000 hectares.

As was reported, unused lands were allocated for grapes and fruit trees. The grapes varieties Kishmish, Husayni, Kelinbarmok and Rizamat were planted on an area of 560 hectares. The orchards with apple, apricot and cherry trees occupy another 300 hectares. The remaining lands are used for the cultivation of melons, tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers and other vegetables.

Wells and ditches were dug, and drip irrigation systems were installed to water orchards and vineyards. It is planned to build a large agro-industrial complex with a warehouse with the storage capacity of 1,500 tons, and to purchase more than ten units of agricultural machines, including tractors and trucks. More than 3,000 new jobs will be created, and orchards and vineyards will be privatized.

During the visit, President Mirziyoyev discussed with the farmers the development prospects of the agricultural sector of the region and visited the fruit, vegetable and flower exhibitions.
