Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan Yoshimasa Hayashi visited the University of World Economy and Diplomacy during his visit to the capital of Uzbekistan, the press office of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis reported.
First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Rector of the University Sodik Safoyev accompanied the diplomat during his visit to the higher educational institution.
The University of World Economy and Diplomacy cooperates with the well-known higher educational institutions in Japan, such as Nagoya University, Hokkaido University, Saitama University, Waseda University and Nippon Academy. The University houses the Analysis and Research Centre of Japan, where students study the Japanese language and take part in various competitions and events in Japanese culture and history.
Yoshimasa Hayashi had a meeting with students and lecturers in the conference hall of the University. The students, who study the Japanese language, greeted the guest of honour in his language.
The ceremony of conferring the title of Honorary Doctor of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy to the Japanese diplomat took place during the meeting of the Minister for Foreign Affairs with the teaching staff of the University.
