On May 1, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon congratulated his compatriots on Eid al-Fitr. He called on citizens of the Republic to be grateful for the independence and freedom of the country amid the “great crisis” and tension facing the world today, the press office of the President of Tajikistan reported.
Emphasising that humanity is going through one of the hardest years, Rahmon said the current situation was further aggravated by political and military conflicts.
He focused on the economic crisis and the impacts of natural disasters and the coronavirus pandemic, which led to food shortages and the spike in prices of goods and services.
The President called on compatriots to unite for the benefit of Tajikistan. The leader of the Republic noted that citizens should behave wisely, create and raise their children in the spirit of patriotism. Emphasising that the people of the country should never succumb to unhealthy and extremist ideas, Rahmon highlighted the importance of protecting national values.
