Umurzakov and IMF discuss aspects of investment partnerships

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov had a meeting with the International Monetary Fund mission headed by Ron van Roden, the press office of the Ministry reported.

The IMF mission arrived in the capital of Uzbekistan to hold this year’s consultations on Article IV of the Articles of Agreement of the International Monetary Fund.

The participants exchanged views on the investment policy of Uzbekistan aimed at improving the investment climate and supporting and protecting investors.

The interlocutors discussed the progress of the implementation of the State Investment Programme, the modernisation of the investment project management system and the work done by the Agency for International Cooperation and Development under the MIFT.

The IMF mission emphasised that the ongoing reforms have led to the positive shifts in the investment policy of Uzbekistan that significantly improve its international image among the international business community. The emphasis was placed on the positive shifts in liberalization of foreign trade, as well as Uzbekistan's progress in integration into the global economy.

The interlocutors discussed the development of Uzbekistan’s foreign trade in the context of export expansion, aspects of international transport and logistics cooperation and the progress on Uzbekistan’s accession to the World Trade Organization.
