In early April, Ambassador of Tajikistan to the Russian Federation Davlatshokh Gulmakhmadzoda met with President of the RF Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sergey Katyrin in Moscow. The interlocutors considered enhancing the potential of trade cooperation, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan reported on April 4.
The need to increase the imports of Tajik goods to Russia was highlighted. The emphasis was placed on fruit and vegetable imports. Katyrin noted that horticultural products from Tajikistan could substitute the Western fruits and vegetables.
The Russian official also noted that trade relations between the two countries were experiencing challenges in logistics and transportation of goods. He suggested that the Ambassador of Tajikistan organise an online meeting of businesses from the two states to tackle the above challenges.
The interlocutors confirmed the readiness of Dushanbe and Moscow to strengthen contacts in the entrepreneurship sector, in particular the investment sector.
The chambers of commerce and industry of Tajikistan and the Russian Federation have signed more than 100 partnership agreements.
