Parliamentarians of Tajikistan and Kazakhstan agree to expand contacts

On March 29, Speaker of the upper house of the Parliament of Tajikistan Rustam Emomali arrived in Almaty for an official visit to participate in the meeting of the CIS Inter-parliamentary Assembly. In Kazakhstan, Rustam Emomali met with his counterpart Maulen Ashimbaev, the press office of the Parliament of Tajikistan reported.

The interlocutors focused on the current level of inter-parliamentary collaboration, as well as future prospects of cooperation. They emphasised that the two countries had intensified inter-parliamentary relations after signing the bilateral agreement.

They noted that trade turnover between the republics reached US$1.2 billion in 2021, which exceeds trade turnover in 2020 by 30 percent.

The officials agreed that the Majlisi Milli Majlisi Oli of Tajikistan and the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan should expand cooperation in the industrial, energy, transport, healthcare, education, cultural and tourism sectors.
