Uzbekistan launches health care quality improvement plans

On March 28, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a regular meeting via videoconference on the progress on fulfilling the tasks set during the meeting with health specialists, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reported.

President Mirziyoyev noted that the priorities should include targeted screening of 1 million at-risk citizens, 700,000 children and 100,000 pregnant women next month. He highlighted the need to open day hospital units at each polyclinic in mahallas and health centres in remote areas of the country.

Measures should be taken to improve the quality of ambulance care by creating additional ambulance crews in remote regions, as well as to increase salaries of ambulance workers.

1.2 trillion soums will be allocated from the budget for the repair and construction of health care facilities.

The President of Uzbekistan instructed that the Research Centre for Haematology and Blood Transfusion be equipped to perform a bone marrow transplant.

The health care quality improvement plans also envisage approving the uniform tariffs for public and private health care institutions.
