Citizens of Uzbekistan evacuated from Ukraine

Uzbekistan has evacuated its citizens from Ukraine through Poland, the Dunyo News Agency reported.

Citizens of Uzbekistan entered the territory of Poland through the bordering Ukrainian city of Lvov. Since February 28, 25 evacuation flights have brought back 5,786 citizens of Uzbekistan to the homeland. Uzbekistan Airlines made 2-3 flights per day to Tashkent.

Each day, several hundred people, willing to fly to Uzbekistan, gather at border crossings between Poland and Ukraine. The Mayor’s Office of the Polish city of Katowice has provided significant assistance in evacuating those who were forced to leave Ukraine. The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Poland has provided tremendous assistance; it transported the people to the Katowice airport and provided the rooms for mothers with children, hot meals and medical care.

Coordinated joint action of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan and Uzbekistan Airlines and assistance of the Polish Government have made the successful evacuation of Uzbek nationals possible.
