President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov has launched the Jashyl Muras (Green Heritage) national campaign throughout Kyrgyzstan. He planted coniferous seedlings in the Ala-Archa Park, the press office of the President of Kyrgyzstan reports.
In his speech, the President emphasised that the Green Heritage national campaign has been launched in each region of the country, and will become an annual tradition. It is planned to plant 5-6 million seedlings annually throughout the country.
The President held a meeting with UNDP Resident Representative Louise Chamberlain and Head of OSCE Programme Office Alexey Rogov as part of the event. They discussed environmental issues.
Noting that Kyrgyzstan has launched the construction projects of small hydropower plants, the President said the construction of the Kambarata hydroelectric power station will start this year.
The representatives of the international organisations emphasised that the implementation of renewable energy projects in Kyrgyzstan will help solve the problem of unemployment in the country. UNDP and OSCE support these initiatives of the Republic, they said.
