President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the project of the Olympic Town that would be built in Yashnabad district of Tashkent, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reported.
The capital of Uzbekistan will host the 2025 Asian Youth Games. Tashkent is preparing to welcome numerous delegations of athletes, coaches, journalists and sports functionaries from all Asian countries.
The British company Arup has developed the Olympic Town project. The large-scale sports facility will have the Olympic Stadium in the centre surrounded with the water sports palace, rowing canal, indoor sports complexes and training grounds, a hostel for athletes, utility facilities, administrative buildings, as well as the building of the Institute for Sport Excellence. Various sports federations and other sports organisations will also work there.
A green area for walking and playing sports will be created along New Uzbekistan Street leading to the Olympic Village.
When reviewing the Olympic Town project, the Uzbek leader asked questions about the project costs and the conditions created for athletes and spectators and gave specific instructions regarding the development of a detailed construction plan and a construction tender.
