On March 4, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a meeting with President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Arif Alvi, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reported.
The leaders of the two friendly states expressed satisfaction with the development of bilateral cooperation, noting that the current visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Pakistan would give a new powerful impetus to promote bilateral relations in key areas.
The interlocutors noted that significant achievements have been gained in a number of areas over 30 years of interstate cooperation. Commodity turnover is growing steadily, and growth rates exceeded 50 percent last year, despite the pandemic.
Uzbekistan and Pakistan have a common position in such areas as science and education, youth policy and IT technologies.
The President of Uzbekistan proposed to hold science conferences on astronomy, astrophysics, physics, mathematics, virology and robotics on a regular basis on the platform of the Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (COMSTECH).
The leaders of the two states discussed some issues of regional and international politics, in particular the security situation in Afghanistan.
