President of Kazakhstan supports new official name of ruling party

On March 1, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev announced the goals of building New Kazakhstan and supported the proposal to rename officially the political institution “Nur Otan” to “Amanat” during an extraordinary meeting of the central party, the press office of Akorda reported.

The President said he had taken an active part in discussing this proposal. He noted that along with Amanat, other names had been proposed. Amanat is a concept carried by the Kazakh people through the centuries-old prism, and it is of particular importance for Kazakhstan. Amanat is translated as a “precept of ancestors” and “mandate to future generations,” the President said.

Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev emphasised that Kazakhstan abides by the traditions of statehood and continuity of generations, the Kazakh society has never forgotten about these precepts, and the party is the successor of this principle. The concept of Amanat fully determines the imperishable ideals of independence and national unity, bequeathed to contemporaries by their ancestors, the leader of Kazakhstan noted.

Focusing on the inalienability of safeguarding and enriching this invaluable heritage and fulfilling the primary duty to the future generation, the President supported the new name of the party.
