President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov sent a congratulatory message to his colleague from Bangladesh Mohammad Abdul Hamid on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the countries. He noted that Ashgabat is ready to strengthen partnership with Dhaka. It was reported by «Turkmenistan today» on February 27.
Berdimuhamedov underlined that cooperation between the countries is based on three principles: equality, mutual respect and understanding. According to him, at the moment Turkmenistan is totally ready for deepening ties with Bangladesh.
The Turkmen leader also wished Abdul Hamid and the citizens of the republic good health, happy life, prosperity, and progress.
On March 9, 2018, the then Foreign Minister of Bangladesh Shahriyar Alam arrived in Ashgabat on a working visit. He met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov. They discussed the importance of strengthening cooperation within the UN, OIC, in energy and transport.
