On February 17, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov sent a congratulatory message to his Iranian colleague Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic cooperation between the countries. It was reported by the state news agency «Turkmenistan today».
Berdimuhamedov stressed that over the relevant period, the authorities of both countries have done important work to strengthen relations between Ashgabat and Tehran. In this direction, the emphasis was placed on the principles of mutual respect, understanding, honesty and equality, he added.
The Turkmen leader pointed out the need to systematically expand the potential of partnership in politics, economy, trade, culture, as well as in the humanitarian field. He also expressed confidence that the states will continue to ensure the prosperous life of their citizens through joint efforts.
Turkmenistan initiated swap supplies of its gas to Azerbaijan through the territory of Iran. In January, 2022, Ashgabat and Tehran agreed to increase the corresponding supplies by 10 times.
