On February 16, in Ashgabat, Narine Sahakyan, the newly appointed head of the United Nations Development Program, met with Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the leader of Turkmenistan. The parties discussed issues of further cooperation, as reported by the state news agency «Turkmenistan today».
The UNDP Resident Representative noted that the United Nations global network will continue to help Ashgabat.
— Turkmenistan can always rely on the support of the UN Development Program, — said Sahakyan.
According to her, the international organization will be glad to bring global experience and the latest technological solutions to the Central Asian country. The UNDP representative promised to make every effort to bring the relevant relations to a more effective stage of partnership and stressed that she considers Turkmenistan her home.
She also conveyed greetings from Antonio Guterres, UN Secretary-General, who stressed that Turkmenistan is confidently following the path of progressive transformations.
