President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a working meeting on February 15. Part of the event was dedicated to the export of natural gas and electricity. Deputy Prime Ministers Shahym Abdrakhmanov and Charymyrat Purchekov, as well as Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov presented results of their work, as reported by «Turkmenistan Today».
Abdrakhmanov spoke about the comprehensive work to increase the volume of Turkmen gas supplied abroad. He noted that the world interest in the hydrocarbon and energy resources of Turkmenistan is growing. Purchekov reported that the country is taking measures to expand electricity exports. Meredov reported on the development of international relations in the relevant direction.
Berdimuhamedov instructed to widely study all possibilities of transit supplies of gas to the region of the Near and Middle East through neighboring states. He also ordered to intensify negotiations on the transit of Turkmen electricity.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will study the organizational part of the above issues.
