Kyrgyzstan and Switzerland to implement projects worth over US$ 86 million

On February 14, the authorities of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Swiss Confederation celebrate the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, bilateral relations have reached a high level during this period, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.

The emphasis was placed on the future of bilateral relations. The ministry officials stressed that Bishkek and Bern intended to implement a number of projects totalling over 80 million Swiss francs (about US$ 86.6 million) for the next four years, namely, from 2022 to 2025.

These projects are aimed at supporting public administration, economic and water sector reforms, as well as fighting climate change.

According to experts, Switzerland has provided assistance to Kyrgyzstan estimated at US$ 480 million over 30 years of cooperation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.

The two countries established diplomatic relations on February 14, 1992. Switzerland open its embassy in the Kyrgyz Republic on November 5, 2012.
