Trade turnover between Tajikistan and Iran reaches US$121 million

On February 9, Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade Zavki Zavkizoda met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Iran to Tajikistan Muhammad Taqi Sabiri in Dushanbe. The parties focused on expanding bilateral trade, the press office of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan reported.

The interlocutors noted that bilateral trade turnover in 2021 amounted to about US$121 million, which is twice the volume of that in 2020.

They highlighted the importance of developing a roadmap to expand trade cooperation and increase bilateral commodity turnover to US$500 million.

The Ambassador of Iran invited the Minister of Economic Development and Trade to visit the free economic zones of Iran and study the experience in this sphere.

Zavkizoda noted that interstate relations had reached a qualitatively new level through the efforts of the leaders of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran, Emomali Rahmon and Ebrahim Raisi.
