Tashkent Khokim meets Governor of Punjab, Pakistan

On February 9, Khokim of the capital of Uzbekistan Jakhongir Artikhodjaev met with Governor of Punjab of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar, the press office of the Tashkent khokimiyat reported.

The top managers of a number of major companies of Pakistan, including Fatima Group and Lake City Holdings, and the heads of the prestigious higher educational institutions of the country attended the meeting.

The participants exchanged views on the prospects of Uzbekistan-Pakistan cooperation in the trade, economic and industrial sectors.

More than a hundred businesses from Pakistan are currently operating in Uzbekistan. The recent meeting between President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan has contributed to bringing bilateral economic relations to a new level.

Punjab is one of the most industrialized regions of Pakistan; large textile enterprises, agricultural clusters and enterprises that produce agricultural and other types of machinery, cars and bicycles, sports and medical equipment and food products are located in the region.

The parties expressed mutual readiness to boost cooperation in the information technology, tourism, textile and education sectors.

The Governor of Punjab said this year 30 students from Uzbekistan would receive scholarships to study at the University of Lahore.
