UN to involve Turkmen youth in mitigating threats of pandemic

The United Nation and the government of Turkmenistan have created local committees of the joint program «Empowering and Engaging the youth to mitigate the multi-dimensional threats of the health pandemic» in Dashoguz and Lebap provinces. It was reported by the UN press office on February 7.

The committees include employees from local administrations. Later, the structure will include representatives of public organizations and young volunteers. The program will make the younger generation agents of change in their communities.

Human security will be considered as a critical planning approach. The focus will be made on the principle of «leaving no one behind».

As part of the program, a Youth Reference Group will be created. Representatives of the group will actively engage with officials in developing initiatives to address the multidimensional COVID-19 pandemic risks.

As of February 7, Turkmenistan has registered no cases of COVID-19.
