On February 4, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon attended the 2022 Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony in Beijing. Together with the President of Tajikistan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Chairman of the Committee for Youth and Sport, the Assistant to the President on Economic Issues and other high-ranking officials attended the event, the press office of the President of Tajikistan reported.
A high-ranking government official greeted Rahmon at the international airport in the capital of the People’s Republic of China. It should be noted that athletes from Tajikistan won’t perform at the Games, as none of them have qualified for the sporting event.
The President of Tajikistan sat on the VIP stadium stand together with the leaders of China and Russia, Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin, and other heads of states and governments. The leaders and representatives of over 20 countries and regional and international organisations attended the Opening Ceremony.
Chairman of the State Committee for National Security of Tajikistan Saimumin Yatimov noted that they would take all necessary measures to ensure the safety of the Tajikistan delegation visiting China.
