On February 4, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev was a guest of honour at the XXIV Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony in Beijing, the capital of China. The grandiose sports festival took place inside the bowl of the famous Bird’s Nest Stadium, the press office of Akorda reported.
Together with the President of Kazakhstan, the leaders of many states and international organisations attended the Opening Ceremony of the largest sporting spectacle in the world.
A short track skater Abzal Azhgaliev and a speed skater Ekaterina Aidova from the national team were honoured to carry the national flag of Kazakhstan during the Parade of Nations at the Opening Ceremony. The leader of Kazakhstan welcomed the Olympic team from the VIP stadium stand.
The sports landing force of Kazakhstan at the XXIV Olympic Winter Games consists of 34 athletes who will perform in 87 events. Athletes will compete in 8 disciplines. Participants of the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games will compete in 109 events across 15 disciplines for 16 days.
