President of Turkmenistan to go into quarantine after visit to China

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov will go into quarantine as part of the proposal of the emergency commission for combating the diseases. He will do that after returning from the People’s Republic of China, where he took part in the opening of the 2022 Olympics, as reported by «Turkmenistan today» on February 3.

The decision was made at a regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, held before the departure of the leader of the country to Beijing on February 3. Berdimuhamedov noted that all members of the delegation who go to China will have to go into quarantine. The President and relevant officials will be isolated on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.

The quarantine proposal was put forward by Sapardurdy Toylyyev, Deputy Prime Minister for Science, New Technologies and Innovations, and head of the relevant commission. He noted that three days is the shortest allowable period of isolation. According to the regulation of the commission, today in Turkmenistan the longest quarantine period is 21 days.

The opening of the 2022 Olympics in Beijing took place at 15:00 Moscow time, on February 4. Earlier, Berdimuhamedov shared his expectations for the games in an interview to Chinese TV channels, newspaper and online media.
