Russia allocates US$2 million for school meals in Tajikistan

On January 21, Counsellor of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Tajikistan Shamil Foatovich Shamsutdinov and Representative and Country Director at World Food Programme Adham Musallam participated in a press conference, during which they informed that Russia had allocated US$ 2 million for school meals in Tajikistan, the Howar State News Agency of Tajikistan reports.

The care for the younger generation of friendly Tajikistan is one of our priorities. Russia has allocated more than US$82 million for the School Feeding Programme in Tajikistan in the spirit of alliance and strategic partnership that have been binding our countries for 30 years, Shamsutdinov emphasised.

As was reported, in 2021, the educational institutions of Tajikistan received almost 7,000 tons of food products, which made it possible to provide meals for about 440,000 schoolchildren.

Since 2013, the Russian Federation has allocated US$82.1 million to the School Feeding Programme in Tajikistan, including US$54 million for food aid and US$28.1 million for infrastructure improvements.
