Kazakhstan starts paying compensation to entrepreneurs

On January 20, the government commission responsible for mitigating the impact of riots in Kazakhstan in January this year released the Compensation Mechanism for Damage to Small- and Medium-Scale Businesses. The document can be found on the website of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The funding to cover the losses will be provided from the government reserves to local executive authorities. The executive authorities will pay compensation for damages to real and personal property of citizens, including stolen goods.

Losses or damages to the property will be determined upon submission of the confirmed cost estimate documentation. Compensation for lost and damaged movable property and goods will be paid in accordance with the documents issued by evaluation or audit organisations. Entrepreneurs willing to receive compensation payment must submit an application on the state portal.

Claims from citizens will be considered within 5 calendar days, if a claim is approved, the funds will be immediately transferred to the applicant. Citizens will start receiving compensation payments in February this year.
