Kwon Dong-seok is first South Korean Ambassador to Tajikistan

On January 7, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Farhod Salim held a meeting with Ambassador Kwon Dong-seok in Dushanbe, who was appointed by the South Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs as the first-ever ambassador to the Central Asian republic, the press office the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan reported.

The Korean diplomat presented the letters of credence to Salim. The officials discussed the current state of interstate partnerships and identified promising areas of cooperation.

They emphasised that today Dushanbe and Seoul needed to pay more attention to building relations in the trade, economic and education sectors.

Congratulating Kwon Dong-seok on his appointment as head of the diplomatic mission of Korea, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan wished him every success in his work.

The two countries established diplomatic relations in April 1992. The Embassy of Korea in Dushanbe opened in the summer of 2008. Previously, it was headed by the Charge d’affaires.
