On January 4, a Russian singer of Tajik descent Manizha Sangin was hailed as the Face of 2021 in the Republic of Tajikistan based on a survey among Tajikistan Newspaper readers. In total, 3,612 newspaper readers have voted for Manizha in this nomination.
According to the readers’ poll results, the singer came out on top of the “Face of 2021” nomination. In total, Tajikistan Newspaper announced 10 nominations, including the Minister of the Year and the Chairman of the Year, among others.
Manizha represented Russia at the 65th Eurovision Song Contest 2021. She performed the song “Russian Woman” and was voted ninth with 204 points at the creative competition.
In 1994, when the civil war began in Tajikistan, her family moved to Moscow, where she has been living and working for about 20 years. Manizha graduated from the Faculty of Psychology at the Russian State University for the Humanities in the capital of the Russian Federation.
