President of Tajikistan appoints his daughter as Ambassador to UK

On December 15, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon signed the decree on the appointment of Rukhshona Emomali as the head of the diplomatic mission of Tajikistan in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the press office of the President of Tajikistan reported.

The decree was signed in accordance with Article 69 of the Constitution of Tajikistan. She replaced Masoud Khalifazada, who vacated his post under another decree. Khalifazada has served as the Ambassador to UK since September 2018.

Rukhshona Emomali is one of the seven daughters of the President of Tajikistan. In 2016, she worked at the foreign policy mission of Tajikistan in the UK. In 2017, she was appointed as Deputy Head of the department of international organisations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The book by Rahmon's daughter “Fundamentals of the Diplomatic Service” was published in the summer of 2017. It mainly focuses on the partnerships of Tajikistan with the international organisations and the activities of embassies and consulates.

The leader of Tajikistan has seven daughters and two sons. The eldest son, Rustam Emomali is Chairman of the upper house of Parliament and Mayor of Dushanbe. The eldest daughter, Ozoda Rahmonova is Head of the President’s Executive Office. Emomali Rahmon has been in power for almost 30 years.
