Kazakbaev and Mukhriddin discuss Bishkek-Dushanbe relations

On November 21, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Ruslan Kazakbayev participated in the European Union - Central Asia Dialogue during his working visit to Dushanbe. Kazakbayev met with his Tajik counterpart Sirojiddin Mukhriddin on the sidelines of the forum. The interlocutors discussed current relations and the prospects for expanding contacts between the two countries, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan reported.

A constructive dialogue on key issues on the agenda of Kyrgyzstan-Tajikistan relations and the prospects for enhancing mutually beneficial cooperation, including on international multilateral platforms, took place.

Kazakbayev emphasised that the Kyrgyz side was aiming at the earliest possible legitimation of the Kyrgyzstan-Tajikistan border, which would have a positive impact on the entire spectrum of relations between the two countries.

Particular attention was paid to the protection of the rights and interests of citizens of the two countries. In this regard, the Kyrgyz side proposed to hold consular consultations involving prosecutor’s offices and criminal and border agencies.
