President of Uzbekistan to visit Turkey

A summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States will be held in Istanbul.

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev will visit Turkey, where a series of events of the summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States will be held in Istanbul on November 11-12, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reported.

The summit will address a wide range of aspects of relations within the Council in such areas as trade and investment, ecology, information technology, transport and communications, culture and education.

The Uzbek leader will hold a number of bilateral meetings during his visit to Istanbul. The summit is expected to result in the signing of a number of joint documents, which will contribute to cooperation between Uzbekistan and other states in the main areas of interaction.

The Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States is made of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey and Uzbekistan that became a member of the Council in 2019. Currently, Hungary has observer status in the Council. Since its inception in 2009, the Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States has been working towards facilitating wide-ranging cooperation among its member states. The goals and objectives of the Council also include cooperation on foreign policy issues, the joint fight against international terrorism and the enhancement of judicial cooperation.
