Kazakhstan invests 3 trillion tenge in green energy

The share of energy from renewable sources in electricity generation will grow significantly.

On November 9, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin reviewed the progress of the implementation of investment renewable energy projects at the meeting of the Investment Agency of Kazakhstan, the press office of the Prime Minister reported to CentralAsia.news.

The officials reported that 126 renewable energy facilities had been put into operation in the Republic over the past 7 years. These are solar and wind power plants. They emphasised that the share of energy from renewable sources in electricity generation was to grow from 3 to 15% by 2030. Modern renewable energy facilities will be built, and about 3 trillion tenge will be invested in this sector.

At this stage, the Cabinet of Ministers of Kazakhstan has reached an agreement with ADQ from the United Arab Emirates and French TotalEnergies on their involvement in the phased construction of new facilities. The joint investment projects aim to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 8 million tonnes and create additional technological sections for green energy generation of up to 20 billion kWh.

Investments will be used to modernise the national health infrastructure. Askar Mamin instructed to ensure the timely implementation of the plans for the development of the renewable energy and health sectors.
